How much can you learn from a former creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi? Paul Arden shows there are no limits to learning, as long as your mind is open. His book, “It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be” is iconic when it comes to advice on how you should think, how you should approach life, how you should treat your customer, how you should do business … basically a how to applicable to any area of your life. If, of course, you are willing to open your mind and read behind his words every here and there and overcome the practical biases between advertising and business.
A true creative genius, Paul Arden spent 14 years with Saatchi & Saatchi, working as consultant for them since he left. He built iconic ad campaigns for Toyota, British Airways, Fuji and many other big brands during his career.
The book reads rapidly and sticks with you, many of the pieces of advice seem common sense: don’t seek praise, seek criticism, take responsibility, do not covet your ideas, accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative and many others that we will present in future posts.
Definitely a must read!
